LOS ANGELES, CA — Weruché Inspires International (WIIN) is proud to announce the upcoming 2027 production run of Festac Baby, an original theatrical work by playwright Weruché Uzoka. Presented in honor of the California Arts Council (CAC) and commemorating the 50th Golden Jubilee of the 2nd World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC '77), this production expands upon its successful premiere at the Victory Theatre in Burbank.
This project is supported in part by the California Arts Council, a state agency, honoring 50 years of state arts support alongside the 50th anniversary of FESTAC '77. Festac Baby explores identity, cultural heritage, sacrifice, and the resilience of the human spirit through rich African storytelling traditions.
PRODUCTION HIGHLIGHTS & KEY DATES
Performance Window: January 15, 2027 – February 12, 2027
Public Performances: 4–6 weekend shows across Greater Los Angeles theaters
Creative Youth Development: Free youth matinees and interactive workshops (acting, drumming, storytelling) for ages 13–25
Accessibility: Full ADA compliance, sensory-friendly options, and ASL interpretation available upon request
